Synopsis
Kate Cooper, a former storm chaser haunted by a devastating encounter with a tornado during her college years now studies storm patterns on screens safely in New York City. She is lured back to the open plains by her friend, Javi to test a groundbreaking new tracking system. There, she crosses paths with Tyler Owens, the charming and reckless social-media superstar who thrives on posting his storm-chasing adventures with his raucous crew, the more dangerous the better.

Deadpool & Wolverine will remain the most popular movie in theaters this weekend, but whether it lands over or under $90 million will be worth looking out for. Trap and Harold and the Purple Crayon won’t pose much of threat to Deadpool reign at the top of the chart, but could be in a close race for second with Twisters.

Deadpool & Wolverine is set to break records this weekend. It already posted the 8th-best previews in history yesterday, with $38.5 million reported by Disney this morning. What that means for the weekend as a whole remains to be seen, but our model is optimistic that it will not only have the best weekend of 2024 so far, but climb high on the all-time list.

Twisters looks set to add more momentum to the Summer season this weekend, with $2 million from special screenings on Wednesday, $8.7 million from previews on Thursday, and reportedly excellent business already on Friday. Based on the official info we have so far, it looks as though it should earn more than $60 million this weekend, which is an excellent result for a movie that’s arriving more than 28 years after the previous installment in the franchise. Meanwhile, Oddity will try to find its way into the top ten, hot on the heals of Longlegs’ big debut last weekend.
