At the Devil's Door is the third and final horror / thriller I'll be reviewing this weekend. It earned the best reviews of those three films, but that's not saying much. Am I finally going to enjoy one of these movies? Or will horror / thriller go zero for three this weekend?

It's a terrible week on the home market with no major releases. The biggest theatrical release is Begin Again, which earned excellent reviews, but opened in limited release and never expanded truly wide. The best new release on the list is the limited edition Breaking Bad: The Complete Series 2014 Barrel, but it costs more than $200, so it is out of the price range of most people. Besides those two releases, there's more filler than releases worth talking about. Begin Again wins Pick of the Week, practically by default, as it is the only release I can enthusiastically recommend.

Season four of Awkward. began in April, so I don't know why Season Three is coming out this week. I'm just glad they are releasing a full-season set after releasing season three in two volumes. If you are a fan of the first two seasons, is season three worth picking up? Or is the show's quality starting to wane?

March was stronger than expected when compared to 2013 with four films earning $100 million or more, led by Divergent. (Not all of them have gotten there yet, but they are certain to reach that milestone before they are done their box office runs.) It wasn't a blow-out victory, on the other hand, as a few weekends the ticket sales were lower in 2014 than they were during the same weekend in 2013. April looks really strong with Captain America: The Winter Soldier leading the way. This film should top $200 million over the weekend, while it isn't the only film that should crack the century mark, as Rio 2 is also on track for $100 million. This is great news, as no film last April reached $100 million. Granted, 42 came close and Oblivion wasn't far behind, but The Winter Soldier should earn more than those two films earned combined giving 2014 a comfortable lead over 2013 over the full month.

Awkward. started in 2011 and was a hit with critics right away. In fact, it earned a place on a number of top ten TV shows of 2011. I previously described the show as my favorite TV show on MTV since Daria, and I love Daria. On the other hand, this isn't the first time it has been released on DVD. Is the two-season box set worth picking up for those that missed it the first time around?
