Bad Boys: Ride or Die provided a healthy bump for the box office last weekend as the latest installment in the franchise launched with $56.53 million in its opening frame. The action-comedy currently enjoys a six-day domestic total of $74.76 million while having secured over $123 million from global earnings. Last week’s box office winner, The Nun II has gained ground in theaters from its opening frame, adding 15 locations for a total of 3,743 theaters, finding itself as this week’s widest release. The horror sequel tallied up $32.6 million in its opening weekend and currently holds a six-day total of just over $40 million. That total brings The Conjuring franchise to a worldwide total of just over $2.2 billion from nine films, including its predecessor, The Nun, which delivered $363 million of that back in September of 2018. This week will see the debut of three new wide releases, including the latest in the mysteries of Hercule Poirot.

It is not a particularly good week when it comes to limited releases and almost none of the films on this week’s list have a shot at box office success. The Book of Henry is the widest release by far, but its reviews will likely result in a really poor theater average. It's an abridged list of DVD and Blu-ray releases report this week due to technical difficulties. The best selling new release of the week is True Blood: The Complete Fifth Season on Blu-ray Combo Pack, which is certainly worth owning for fans. However, the best releases are the Hayao Miyazaki Double-Shot, Howl's Moving Castle on Blu-ray Combo Pack and My Neighbor Totoro on Blu-ray Combo Pack. Most prefer the former, but I prefer the latter.

It is a really, really busy week for limited releases. However, of the more than a dozen films on this week's list, only one of them is earning overwhelmingly positive reviews, Wagner and Me. That film is a documentary, so even if it does perform well during its opening weekend, it likely won't find any mainstream success. All of the rest are either earning too few reviews to have a Tomatometer Score, or have overall negative reviews. Combined with the previously released Awards Season hopefuls, and there's too much competition for such weak films.
