DEG Watched At Home Chart: Déjà Vu for the DEG
June 11, 2020
There were no new releases in the top five of the DEG Watched at Home Chart this week. In fact, the top five were exactly the same as they were last week, right down to the order the were in. This isn’t a huge shock, as the new DVD / Blu-ray releases and VOD releases were far from stellar, so there wasn’t anything new to challenge those at the top of the chart. Sonic the Hedgehog remains one of the few bright spots in a movie industry that has been hit hard by the pandemic.
The Invisible Man was the only low-budget horror movie to thrive at the box office this year and it continues to do well on the home market with another second-place finish this week.
Birds of Prey earned third place on the Watched at Home Chart, and has moved into the top 20 among best-selling physical releases of the year.
Sony was the only studio with more than one release in the top five with Bad Boys for Life earning fourth place and Jumanji: The Next Level rounding out the top five.
Interestingly, while Disney had no releases in the top five, it still managed to be the most prolific studio with five releases in the top twenty. The Call of the Wild was the studio’s best release of the week, in eighth place.
The only new release to chart this week was RuPaul’s Drag Race All Stars, which opened in 15th place thanks to big VOD demand.
