March 17, 2020
Not a single film cracked the $10,000 club this weekend with Inside the Rain coming the closest with an opening of $8,140 in its lone theater.
The rest of the new limited releases ranged from “Meh.” to “Yikes!”, but with the number of people self-isolating due to the COVID-19 outbreak, this was to be expected. Never, Rarely, Sometimes, Always was on the high end with an average of $4,071 in four theaters. Miss Fisher And The Crypt Of Tears only managed an average of $2,835 in 18 theaters, just ahead of Human Nature’s average of $2,467 in two. The Roads Not Taken missed the Mendoza Line with an average of $1,103 in three theaters. Meanwhile, Heart of Africa was next with an average of $985 in 20 theaters.
This past week also saw a milestone for just one film. Emma. reached $7.5 million before the weekend and it is nearly at $10 million.
