Thursday Night Previews: Jungle Made a Lot of Noise Last Night
April 15, 2016
The Jungle Book has stellar previews pulling in $4.2 million in Thursday. That's not as big as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice or Deadpool made earlier this year. However, it is more than the $2.3 million Cinderella earned last year. This bodes well for its weekend run.
Barbershop: The Next Cut was well back with $735,000. There are very few films that we can use to directly compare to this film. Another delayed sequel, Zoolander 2, pulled in $750,000 on its way to a $13.84 million opening weekend. However, the Zoolander 2 target audience was a lot more likely to rush out to see the film the first chance they got, whereas I don't think that can be said of Barbershop: The Next Cut. Additionally, its reviews will certainly help its legs.
Criminal also had previews last night, but no numbers were released. That's a really bad sign.
