Star Wars: The Force Awakens Loves Mondays to the tune of $40.1 million
December 22, 2015
Another day, another record for Star Wars: The Force Awakens as it earned an estimated $40.1 million on Monday. This obliterates the previous Monday record, which was held by Spider-Man 2 at $27.66 million. It also shaved a day off the previous record for Fastest to $250 million beating Jurassic World yet again. (Jurassic World still holds the record for Biggest Saturday, so at least it is not being completely erased from the record books.)
Tomorrow should see the record for fastest to $300 million fall, and the film has already passed that mark internationally. The estimate for that is $322.7 million as of Tuesday morning, for a global total of $610.8 million. The United Kingdom is the biggest international market, with $59.4 million reported to date, with Germany next on $31.4m. Click here for the latest complete international breakdown by territory.
