Passion's Top Draw

Another 7 openings helped keep The Passion of the Christ in top spot with $25.4 million. And the same pattern is holding true, the smaller the market the better the result. In Spain it opened to $3.2 million, about on par with Gothika's opening at the end of February. In South Korea it opened first with $2.3 million, significantly below the local productions that have been taking tops spot for most of the year. So far the film has earned just over $80 million internationally and over $400 million worldwide.

Scooby Doo: Monsters Unleashed had its first big push on the international market this past weekend. Opening in more than two dozen markets the sequel was able to take in $15.9 million. Strong, but not spectacular.

With no new major openings in the future, Brother Bear's weekly numbers should drop from now on. Adding another $6.4 million was enough to bring its international total to $140 million, much more than it's domestic run, although the sharp drop-off does make $250 million worldwide a little less likely.

8 more debuts helped Along Came Polly maintain fourth place with $4.5 million.

Starsky and Hutch has yet to open in most markets, but it may have peaked at the international box office already. At just $4.2 million it earned less than half of what it earned just a couple of weeks ago.

Even though it is no longer in is no longer in the top five, Lord of the Rings: Return of the King is still taking in millions internationally. $3.1 million was enough to raise its international total to $725 million and worldwide total to $1.1 billion.
