WGA Announces Winners over the Weekend

In amongst the more than a dozen awards handed out at the 56th Annual Writers Guild Awards on Saturday were two for theatrical releases.
Sofia Coppola won Best Original Screenplay for Lost in Translation, which was expected. However, It was a shock that Robert Pulcini & Shari Springer Berman won Best Adapted Screenplay from American Splendor. The Harvey Pekar biopic was up against the award season juggernaut Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, among others.
