Surfer Overshadows Limited Releases on Per Theater Chart
June 19, 2007
Only one new release topped $10,000 on the per theater chart this week, and only two films in total were able to do that.
That new release was the overall box office leader, Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, which pulled in an average of $14,663.
The only holdover was 12:08 East of Bucharest with $10,108 in its lone theater.
No new limited release was able to come close to the $10,000 per theater average with Eagle vs. Shark coming in at $6,787 and Gypsy Caravan very close behind with $6,739.
Jhoom Barabar Jhoom and Fido crossed $5,000 on the per theater charts at $5,485 and $5,102 respectively.
Strike came relatively close to that mark with an estimated $4,500, but the rest of the limited releases all flopped.
Lights in the Dusk took in $2,757, Blood and Tears earned $2,201, and Unborn in the USA managed just $1,036.
The rest of the new releases all failed to reach $1,000 with MacBeth earning $644, Beyond Hatred at $534, and The Trials of Darryl Hunt at a mere $310.
This past week also saw milestones reached for a few Per Theater Chart alumni:
