Per Theater Averages Fall after Summer

Not a single film reached the $10,000 per theater average mark this weekend. In fact, only Sukiyaki Western Django came close with $9,856 in one theater over the three-day weekend.
The best of the rest of the new releases was Another Gay Sequel, which made just over $21,000 in three theaters for an average of $7,029. Close behind was I Served the King of England with an average of $6,652 in eight theaters while My Mexican Shivah also did relatively well with $6,100 in one theater. On the other hand, Goal 2 made a reported $150,000 in 99 theaters for an average of $1,515, which is likely no more than it cost to make and ship each print to the theaters. Antarctica performed even worse, earning just $798 in one theater.
