Bienvenue Chez les Ch'its remained in first place in France, and internationally. In its native market it earned $28.68 million on 840 screens over the weekend for a total of $73.48 million after just two weeks. At this pace it should hit $100 million by this time next weekend, which is an amazing milestone for that market. Add in its two smaller markets and the film made $29.79 million on 905 screens in 3 markets for a total of $75.44 million.
10,000 B.C. opened in second place $25.27 million on 3617 screens in 20 markets for a total of $26.01 million. The film opened in first place in 19 of those 20 markets including Spain where it pulled in $4.59 million on 472 screens while it also did very well in Mexico with $4.09 million on 498 screens and in Australia with $2.06 million on just 221 screens. It was weaker in Germany with $2.91 million on 729 screens and in Brazil with $1.65 million on 317 screens, but that was still enough to finish in first place in both markets. 10,000 B.C. expands into most of the rest of the major markets next weekend, while it wraps up its run in Japan at the end of April.
Jumper landed in third place with $12.22 million on 3633 screens in 41 markets for a total of $95.98 million internationally. The film opened in Japan but was kept out of first place by a local film; it did earn $4.64 million on 554 screens over the weekend for a total of $5.33 million. It even held up well in Italy down 42% to $1.01 million on 301 screens over the weekend for a total of $3.34 million. The film should reach $100 million internationally within the week and could reach $200 million worldwide before it is done, which should be enough to make the studio happy.
Vantage Point opened in the U.K. and in Japan over the weekend, but the results were mixed. In the U.K. it opened in first place with $2.94 million on 350 screens while it only managed just fifth place with $1.49 million on 276 screens. Overall it earned $10.03 million on 2825 screens in 32 markets for a total of $27.54 million. On the other hand, it held up better than expected in South Korea down just 42% to $1.40 million on 279 screens over the weekend for a total of $5.04 million. Meanwhile in Germany it was down 45% to $1.15 million on 448 screens for a total of $3.72 million while in Spain it was down 51% to $1.11 million on 369 screens for a total of $3.88 million.
Finally, Grande, Grosso E Verdone, which could mean, Big, Gross and Overdone, but probably not, opened in first place in Italy by a huge, huge mile. In that one market the film made $7.66 million on 703 screens, which is more than six times its nearest competitor.
