Movie Website Reviews for the Weekend of May 15th, 2009
May 16, 2009
Slow week in terms of movies with just four on this week's list, and only one of them is even worthy of consideration for the Weekly Website Award. That site was Angels and Demons - Official Site, which has more than enough to win.
Angels and Demons - Official Site
Big Man Japan - Official Site
The Brothers Bloom - Official Site
Management - Official Site
The only wide release of the week, so it had a lot of pressure on it to wow, or this was potentially going to be a short, short list. Fortunately, there's plenty to see and do here. There's The Experience, which uses clips to set up the plot of the film, as well as text and behind-the-scenes featurettes. Overall there is a huge number of video clips here and there's even four puzzle games. I liked the Air one the best, I was able to get the score nearly 12,000, which is not good, as you are trying to get a low score, but high scores are more fun. (And it let me shout, "It's over nine thousand!" If you don't get that, don't feel bad. It just means you are not a geek like me.) There's not much competition this week, but it is still worthy of the Antithesis Weekly Website Award.
Just a single page with some information. Not even all of the usual information, as the bios are missing.
There are two sites here. The site above has most of the usual information, including synopsis, images, and trailer. It has some animation in the form or intros, but not much. Over on Meet the Brothers, there is information on the characters, music from the movie, press the film has received, and even a list of Conman movies. (They missed a couple of my favorites, like Catch Me If You Can and Heartbreakers, but it is a good list. Basically, anything with Ricky Jay in the credits is probably worth checking out.) Combined, this is a very strong site, for a limited release, and on par with most wide releases, but it is not award-worthy.
An effective site with all the usual information, as well as five clips. However, there's nothing here to make it stand out.
