DVD Rentals - Quantum Not Small on Rental Chart
April 8, 2009
There were only two or three new releases to reach the top 30 on the rental charts this week, with Quantum of Solace grabbing top spot with nearly 50% more rentals than second place Twilight.
Role Models fell from first place to third, while Bolt was right behind. Rounding out the top five was Transporter 3.
The only other film to chart was Big Stan, as the direct-to-DVD offering landed in 17th place.
The overall rental market climbed by 11% from last week to $171.2 million. More importantly, this was 15.6% higher than the same week last year, which is the first signs of growth in a long, long time. However, overall sales were nearly double last year's pace, so the rental market is still soft. That said, we will take any victory we can.
