Movie Website Reviews for the Weekend of January 30th, 2009
January 31, 2009
Slow week for movie releases with the best of the bunch being merely average. To be fair, most of the sites are at least average, but none come close to being worthy of the Weekly Website Award.
Blessed in the Match: The Life and Death and Hannah Senesh - Official Site
The Class - Official Site
Lucky by Chance - Official Site
Medicine for Melancholy - Official Site
New In Town - Official Site
Shadows - No Official Site
Taken - Official Site
The Univited - Official Site
All the usual features are here, as well as four clips. However, there's little in terms of style, but this is typical for most documentary site.
The same as before.
All the usual features are here (minus the bios) and there's enough sound and animation to not seem boring. Extras are limited to two clips and a horoscope, which is not enough to stand out.
Typical IFC site. There's additional information at the studio site.
All the usual features are here, plus a couple of extras (pronunciation guide and some recipes). That's not enough to really stand out for a wide release, plus, the site loads very slowly.
Nothing to review.
Disappointingly average. Outside of the 5-minute clip, there is nothing on this site that stands out at all. Additionally, I don't like how the picture of Liam Neeson blocks the slider on the bios page. For a saturation level release, this is a very disappointing effort.
The site does a fine job of setting the mood with good use of sound and animation (including audio clips). However, there's almost nothing on the site that can described as a real extra. There's a nightmare interpretation widget you can download, but that's not that interesting. I'd much rather not have to download something like that. In fact, I never download anything from a site that isn't media. If it is something I have to install, it's not worth it.
