Just a pair of limited releases on this week's list, neither of which seem like they will be big hits. Love Ranch has the buzz, but not the reviews, while The Agony and Ecstasy of Phil Spector has better reviews, but its target audience could be too small.

A documentary about the life of music producer Phil Spector, who was a talented man, but also deeply troubled. It's a fascinating subject, but its reviews are a little below the 80% positive normally associated with success in limited release. Perhaps it will surprising. The Agony and Ecstasy of Phil Spector opened on Wednesday at the Film Forum in New York City.
Based on the real life events at one of the first legal brothels in Nevada, this movie has a lot going for it, including two leads that both won an Oscar, a director that also has an Oscar among his many awards, not to mention a salacious subject matter that could get people into theaters. On the other hand, its reviews are terrible. A Tomatometer Score of 15% positive would be terrible for a wide release and one would assume it will be fatal for a limited release. That said, there is a chance it will do well over opening weekend before its word-of-mouth kills it. Love Ranch opened on Wednesday in 11 theaters in select cities nationwide.
