International Box Office: Another Victory for Battle

Battle: Los Angeles remained in first place on the international scene with $16.32 million on 7,746 screens in 55 markets for a total of $79.63 million after three weeks of release. It didn't have many new openings. It did add $1.12 million on 331 screens during its second weekend in Australia for a total of $4.39 million so far. It has already made more internationally than it has domestically, and with openings in Spain, Germany, and Italy, it should have no trouble getting to $200 million worldwide. I think the studio should be happy with that, but I'm not sure they will be happy enough to go with a sequel.
Rango remained in second place with $16.11 million on 5,946 screens in 54 markets for a total of $95.20 million. It opened in first place in France wit h$4.21 million on 626 screens, while it was down just 27% in Russia to $3.22 million on 1,024 screens over the weekend for a total of $9.29 million after two.
Just Go With It shot into third place with $9.03 million on 2,266 screens in 38 markets for a total of $62.69 million. It earned first place in Russia with $4.35 million on 544 screens over the weekend for a total opening $4.69 million. On the other hand, it only managed sixth place in France with $938,000 on 169 screens.
The King's Speech placed fourth with $8.46 million on 3,457 screens in 53 markets for a massive total of $249.46 million internationally and $384.31 million worldwide. At this point, $400 million worldwide is practically inevitable.
Gnomeo and Juliet returned to the chart in fifth place with $8.30 million on 3,655 screens in 28 markets for a total of $69.69 million. It was aided by a first place, $1.86 million opening on 584 screens in Germany. It also debuted on top in Mexico with $1.32 million on 770 screens. However, its best market was in Spain where it added $1.98 million on 511 screens to its running tally, which now sits at $4.08 million after two weeks of release.
Limitless grew more than 40% to $7.36 million on 1,481 screens in 14 markets for a still very early total of $13.98 million. Of that, $3.40 million came on 364 screens in the U.K., where it opened in first place. It also added $1.52 million on 622 screens in Russia for a two-week total in that market of $5.07 million.
Sucker Punch opened in seventh place with $5.80 million on 1,756 screens in 21 markets over the weekend and $5.90 million in total. It opened in a few major markets, but struggled in all of them. For instance, it only managed fourth place in Italy with $690,000 on 279 screens. It only managed seventh place in Spain with $707,000 on 257 screens and in Mexico with $499,000 on 259. On the other hand, it placed first in Malaysia with $599,000 on 103 screens and in Singapore with $507,000 on 43.
