Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness - The Scorpion Sting - Buy from Amazon
The Kung Fu Panda franchise began in 2008 with Kung Fu Panda. Since then, there has been a sequel, TV special, and a TV series. I previously reviewed Good Croc, Bad Croc, so how does The Scorpion Sting stand up in comparison?
Like last time, there are no extras on the DVD. It does have a better price-per-minute than many similar releases, so the lack of extras isn't that distressing.
If you like the Kung Fu Panda movies, then you will likely enjoy Kung Fu Panda: Legends of Awesomeness as well. There are no extras on The Scorpion Sting, but the price-per-minute is still better than most similar releases and it is worth picking up.
The Show
Tigress has a cold. At first she denies she's sick, but after Master Shifu looks at her, he realizes it's not a cold by River Fever. Normally kids get River Fever and it is mostly harmless. There's only one cure, a Sun Orchid. The only place it grows is Scorpion Valley, which is guarded by Master Scorpion. Scorpion used to be a healer, till she turned evil and used mind control poison. Now she's poisoned Monkey and now he's trying to kill Po.
Master Scorpion is back. Mr. Ping wants his son, Po, to spend a lot of time with him, but Po is the Dragon Warrior. Po decides what his father needs is a girlfriend, but he learns Ping already has a girlfriend... Master Scorpion!
Temutai attacks the Jade Temple and while defending it, Po uses the Thundering Wind Hammer, an attack that is considered impossible. Master Shifu becomes quite concerned when he sees it. He informs Po that there have been many groups called the Furious Five. In every group, the most powerful fighter becomes evil. Since Po is the most powerful, he will turn evil. So Po decides to leave the Valley of Peace before that happens. After he leaves, he meets Fenghuang, the last member of the Furious Five who went evil and she wants to convert him to evil right away.
There's a crimewave and the Furious Five is tasked with finding the culprit. However, Monkey starts acting really strange. The others stakeout the next logical place that will be robbed. Po sees the robber and it looks like Monkey. But it can't possibly be Monkey, can it?
Po organizes a celebrity auction. People can bid money to spend a day with their favorite member of the Furious Five. However, no one's interested in bidding on Crane. This destroys his self-confidence and you can't be a Kung Fu master without self-confidence.
Po wants to know when his training will end. The short answer is never. The long answer is, not till he completes the Three Needles test. After failing, repeatedly, Mantis says the only way to complete the test is with magic. Po heads to the Moshu Market to pick up some black magic that will help him with his Kung Fu. Of course, black magic comes with a high price.
Ping says he's seen the Qilin, a supposedly mythical beast. Humiliated, Ping is determined to catch it to prove he's not crazy, and he's taking Po with him. After the pair camp out, they get into a fight and Ping goes home alone. It is then Po sees the Qilin. It's not what he expected. The Extras
