International Box Office: Spider-man's Amazing Weekend Haul

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 saw its weekend box office haul explode with $117.38 million on 30,460 screens in 41 markets for totals of $278.23 million internationally and $369.84 million worldwide. The film opened in first place in Brazil with $11.06 million on 1,139 screens and in second place in France with $11.03 million on 837. It broke the record for biggest Hollywood debut in India with $6.9 million on 1,523 screens. The film also opened in China, on Sunday, with $9.9 million on 11,031 screens, which was a record for an opening Sunday.
Rio 2 remained in second place with $25.7 million in 72 markets for totals of $290.4 million internationally and $397.0 million worldwide. It only managed fourth place in its debut in South Korea with $1.7 million on 520 screens. It made more than that, $2.15 million on 108, in Venezuela.
The Other Woman climbed to third place with $19.6 million in 49 markets for a three week total of $46.2 million internationally. The film earned first place in Germany with $3.83 million on 513 screens over the weekend for a total opening of $4.25 million. It landed in third place in Russia with $2.49 million on 1,167. It was weaker in Mexico earning fourth place with $876,000 on 476 screens over the weekend for a total opening of $1.20 million.
My Old Classmate was right behind with $19 million over the weekend in China lifting its total to $55 million after two weeks of release.
A fellow Chinese film, The Great Hypnotist, was next week $14 million over the weekend for a total of $25 million after two.
Qu'est-ce qu'on a fait au Bon Dieu? rose $13.10 million on 737 screens in 3 markets for a three-week total of $44.42 million. It remained in first place in France with $12.36 million on 666 screens for a running tally of $42.12.
Frozen returned to the top ten with $11.1 million in 3 markets for totals of $768.9 million internationally and $1.169 billion worldwide. It now has $156 million in Japan, which puts it in the top ten for that market.
Captain America: The Winter Soldier fell to eighth place with $10 million over the weekend for totals of $442 million internationally and $679 million worldwide.
Khumba entered the top ten with $9.31 million on 460 screens in 2 markets for a total of $26.63 million. It expanded in France reaching third place with $9.29 million on 395 screens over the weekend for a three-week total of $26.06 million.
Divergent remained in tenth place with $9.3 million in 75 markets for totals of $108.3 million internationally and $251.0 million worldwide. It has probably broken even at this point, plus it has yet to open in Japan.
