Per Theater Chart: Sniper Expands Wide, but Still Secures Top Spot
January 21, 2015
American Sniper expanded wide, but it still earned first place on the per theater chart with an average of $25,111 in more than 3,000 theaters. Second place went to Still Alice, which opened with an average of $17,667 in 12 theaters. Those were the only two films to reach the $10,000 club over the three-day weekend, but Ode to me Father came close enough that it probably got there over the four-day weekend.
The rest of the new limited releases were not as good with only one of them topping the Mendoza Line. Spare Parts opened in 440 theaters, which proved to be too many, as it only managed an average of $3,036. We still only have the estimates for Match, but according to those estimates, it earned an average of $2,000 in three theaters. Appropriate Behavior was next with an average of $1,682 in eleven theaters. Little Accidents was well back with an average of $509 in seventeen theaters. Finally, Three-Night Stand opened with an average of $254 in ten theaters.
